Ideal location for walkers and cyclists as we are on the Pennine Way and the C2C cycle route. With The Lake District, Hadrians Wall, Co Durham and the Scottish borders all within an hours drive we are an ideal base for discovering the North of England. The town of Alston is an old lead mining town in Cumbria, there is no lead mining here now but our history can be seen all around, so much so that we are used for the setting of period dramas such as Catherine Cookson films and the latest production of Oliver Twist for the BBC.
